Job Change: Carroll Scarborough, CCE, has been named EVP/COO for $1 billion/98,000-member Pen Air Federal Credit Union, Pensacola, Fla. Scarborough formerly served as EVP/chief financial officer at $837 million/87,000-member IBM Southeast Employees’ Federal Credit Union, Boca Raton, Fla.
Retirement/Promotion: Paul Assenmacher, president/CEO of Monroe County Community Credit Union, Monroe, Mich., will be retiring April 1, 2011, after nearly 40 years of service to the CU. During his tenure, the credit union grew from eight employees, approximately 2,800 members and $4 million in assets to 68 employees, more than 30,000 members and $143 million in assets.
Succeeding Assenmacher will be Mike Newman, current EVP/chief operations officer, who will assume the position of president during the transition process and become president/CEO on April 1. A credit union veteran in his own right, Newman has worked at the credit union since 1983.
People Helping People: Mortgage Center CUSO LC, sponsored the 10th hole and matched donations for the Michigan Humane Society up to $1,000 at the recently held Metro East Chapter of the Michigan Credit Union League golf tournament. The hole was a memorial for Michele Myrick, CCE, former executive vice president of $228 million/33,000-member E&A Credit Union, Port Huron, Mich., and the 2010 CUES Future Leader, who unexpectedly passed away in March.
$840 million Andrews Federal Credit Union has partnered with the Hearts Apart program to provide 48 backpacks for children of deployed service members. The CU also presented the Fisher House with a $500 donation to support a team of 50 service members who ran in the U.S. Air Force Marathon. The team ran to raise money and awareness for Fisher House Foundation.
