Profiles of up-and-coming credit union employees

September 17, 2010

The response to CUES’ Next Top Credit Union Exec challenge was huge! In total 41 people entered. Their projects were inspiring, unique and innovative. Public voting narrowed the field to six finalists. Learn more about them here. But for the next several weeks, we will be checking in with one of the non finalists to see how their project is going and learn a bit more about these next generation leaders.

What’s the best thing that has resulted from you entering CUES’ Next Top Credit Union Exec competition?
It allowed me to interact and develop relationships with other credit union peers from around North America. And it allowed me to step outside of my comfort zone, to put myself “out there.”

Give us the elevator speech about your project (as in how would you describe your project to someone you meet in an elevator).
We have created a Young Leader Network for our credit union for peers 35 and under to assist in providing them with personal and leadership skill development

What progress on the project have you made since entering the competition?
We have received formal approval for our executive leadership team to implement the project (they also increased our original budget request … BOOM!!!!). We are now establishing an engagement Web site with the intention to fully release this program to our company by Nov. 1.

What is your long-term career goal? (What do you want to be when you grow up?)

  • Never want to grow up
  • Continue to be working in the credit union system in the business banking department in a senior leadership role
  • Motivational/leadership speaker in the credit union system
  • Children’s book author
Fill in the dots: The future of credit unions will be bright if ...
  1. We engage, foster, and grow our young leaders.
  2. We ensure there is a continued concentration to make all employees aware of what the world credit union movement is about and how they can assist in carrying forward that movement.
